What kind of writing this is
In short: editorial craft, commercial classification.
Because Rough Odds earns commissions from the operator it reviews, the law reads these pages as marketing — and you should read them knowing that, whatever care went into the method. The full funding picture sits in How we earn.
Offers move; pages lag
Bonus amounts, wagering conditions, eligibility and availability belong to the operator, differ across provinces, and change without notice. Each page shows when we last verified it; assume drift after that date. Each operator's current published terms outrank this journal wherever they differ. Check them at 888, TonyBet or Betty before depositing — it takes minutes and settles everything.
Sentences we refuse to print
- That gambling earns, rescues or repays — it does not.
- That any offer is free of risk, or any outcome certain — none is.
- That systems, skill or timing bend games of chance — they cannot.
- That playing more improves the odds — the mathematics runs the other way.
Who this is for, and who it is not
Adults of legal gambling age (19+, or 18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec), behind a year-of-birth check, outside Ontario. Paid campaigns for this journal carry age and province targeting to match.
The standards we write to
The Canadian Gaming Association's Code for Responsible Gaming Advertising, administered by Ad Standards, plus the advertising rules of the platforms carrying our campaigns. If a page here falls short, say so: [email protected], subject COMPLAINT — or go directly to Ad Standards at adstandards.ca. Both doors open.
Not advice, ever
Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice. If gambling is pressing on money or mood, the most important page we publish is Safer Play — start there.
